Swift Translate

WhatsApp translator

You type in your language; the other person reads in theirs.

How it works

WhatsApp can now translate some messages on its own. Swift Translate does what it can’t: it translates your reply before you send it, works in WhatsApp Business and covers over 100 languages. Drag the bubble onto a message to read it in your language, or onto what you typed to send it in the language you picked for them. It translates 3.7 million WhatsApp messages every month.

  1. Install Swift Translate and turn the translator on — a floating bubble appears.
  2. Open WhatsApp and drag the bubble over any message to read it in your language.
  3. To reply, type in your language in the chat box — Swift Translate converts it before you send.

WhatsApp’s Translate or Swift Translate?

  1. Read a message

Both. WhatsApp’s Translate needs both languages on its short list; Swift Translate covers over 100 languages.

  2. Send your reply in their language

Only Swift Translate. Type in your language, drag the bubble onto your text, check it and send.

  3. WhatsApp Business

Only Swift Translate. WhatsApp’s Translate isn’t in the Business app.

  4. Voice messages

WhatsApp only turns them into text. Drag the bubble onto that text, or play the message out loud with Swift Translate’s Audio.

Reply in any language

Most translator apps only help you read. Replying is the hard part: copy, switch apps, paste, switch back. Swift Translate's reply mode removes all of that — type in your language, drag the bubble onto your text, and the message is sent in theirs.

Who uses it

  1. Couples

Talk naturally, even without a shared language.

  2. WhatsApp Business

Answer customers in any country. Sellers translate 2 million Business messages a month.

  3. Family groups

Follow every message, in every language.

  4. Group chats

Take part in mixed-language groups instead of just watching.

Common questions

How do I translate WhatsApp messages?

Install Swift Translate, turn the translator on and open WhatsApp. Drag the floating bubble onto any message and a translation appears next to it, in your language. Drag it onto a reply you typed in your language to send it in the language you picked for them.

Does WhatsApp have a built-in translator?

Yes. WhatsApp has its own Translate: press and hold a message and choose Translate. On Android it can also translate new messages in a chat automatically. It doesn’t translate your replies, it isn’t in WhatsApp Business, and its list of languages is limited. Swift Translate covers those gaps: it translates any message on your screen in 100+ languages, sends your replies in their language, and works in WhatsApp Business. See how to translate WhatsApp messages, step by step.

How do I send a WhatsApp message in another language?

Type it in your own language, drag the Swift Translate bubble onto your text, check the translation and tap Send. It goes out in the language you chose for them. See how to send a WhatsApp message in another language.

Does it work with WhatsApp Business?

Yes. WhatsApp’s own Translate isn’t in the Business app, but Swift Translate works there: read each customer’s message in your language and answer in theirs. See WhatsApp Business translation.

Can it translate WhatsApp voice messages?

Yes, in two ways on Android. Turn the voice message into text with WhatsApp’s Transcribe and drag the bubble onto the text, or play it out loud and Swift Translate’s Audio shows live captions in your language (Android 12 and later, not on every phone). See how to translate WhatsApp voice messages.

Is it safe? Can the app read my chats?

The app reads your screen through Android’s accessibility service, only while you use it. Swift Translate does not collect, store, or share your messages — see the privacy policy.
